What I Want to Do
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. Whether it was in the back of composition notebooks, on extra paper lying around, or digitally. Every important part of my life has a relation to writing, I wrote sad songs when I moved away from my friends, I wrote about ghosts after experiencing a death in the family, and I’ve used writing to not only improve as a person, but work through many mental health issues. To be completely honest, I don’t care which part of the process I work in, I enjoy it all. I hope looking through my work, whether its my writing, my design, or even my personal photography, that you can tell how passionate I am about my creativity and my improvement through art.
What I’m Working On
Alloy Soul
Alloy Soul is a novel I am in the process of writing. Its a dystopian sci-fi novel playing on the ideas of governmental control and the relationship between freedom and safety. I have many influences that have gone into this story, many of the ideas of the Gundam franchise, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and many of the young-adult dystopia books of my childhood.
I wanted to write a book that I would like to read, something for sci-fi nerds but with an anchor in the real world that facilitates more direct commentary and usage of a reader’s real-life experience.
Whether this project goes anywhere or not, its not only taught me so much about the process, but its also served as a sort of “writing gym” that’s allowed me to work on, improve, and maintain my skills as a writer.
Book Covers
I’ve spent a lot of time drawing, its another aspect of my art that I take a lot of solace in. As the prospect of writing a book were getting more serious, I started paying attention to all the other aspects of making a book. This lead me to the design of covers.
So much of a book needs to be conveyed by a cover without spoiling anything to a potential reader. I started paying attention to the covers of books I owned and started getting the itch to make some myself.
These are mostly redesigns of covers for books I own or have read. I wanted to use these redesigns as practice for how to make an effective cover so I can learn how to convey all I need to convey.
